Welcome to the Student Private Health Insurance Exchange

IXSolutions is administering this private health insurance exchange for Western Michigan University. Here is where you will enroll in a health insurance plan, see if you qualify for financial assistance and learn more about other insurance coverage available to you.

Facts about Open Enrollment Period

If you're accustomed to being covered on either your parents insurance plan or a group plan offered by your school, there's a few things you may not know:

  • Individuals are only allowed to enroll into a new health insurance plan during Open Enrollment Period (OEP).
  • OEP comes around once a year. This year it runs from November 1, 2017 to December 15, 2017.
  • Outside of OEP (called Special Enrollment Period) you must have a Qualifying Life Event to enroll into a health insurance plan. What is a Qualifying Life Event?

When you click the button below you will be prompted to enter a seven digit NPN number: 2157051. This is needed to track the status of your application and verify credible coverage with  your university.

Qualifying for Financial Assistance

Depending on your household size and yearly income—you may qualify for financial assistance.  However, you should be aware of one important requirement:

If you don't file your own taxes, then you don't qualify for financial assistance.

Meaning if your parents claim you as a dependent on their tax return, you will not qualify for a subsidy.

If you earn an income and file your own taxes—click here to estimate your eligibility.
