Short Term

Network Comparison

There are two types of networks available to you—HMO and PPO.

HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organization. HMO's are typically more restrictive networks but utilize more cost effective plans. You must coordinate your medical care through a primary care physician (PCP) in a specific Medicare group

PPO stands for Participating Provider Organization. Choosing a plan in the PPO network gives you the freedom to choose where you go for care without needing a referral from your doctor.

Qualifying for a government subsidy

Not everyone qualifies for a subsidy. Your household income must be between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level to qualify.

In 2019,  more Americans will qualify for some form of financial assistance:

  • You may qualify for a free or lost cost health insurance plan .
  • There is a possibility a bronze plan will be available to you for free or at lower cost.
